Reagan Johnson has been selected to serve as a Director of Community Schooling for the upcoming school year.
Johnson is a 2020 graduate of Vienna High School who earned two associate degrees from Shawnee Community College while in high school, all with honors. She then graduated from Murray State University with a bachelor's degree in social work and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. In 2024, she earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky (UK). Johnson served in the student services department as an intern in the 2023-2024 school year, as well as an alternative instructor in the Vienna REACH program.
As director of community schooling, Johnson will foster a vibrant learning environment that extends beyond the classroom walls. Through collaboration with schools, families, and community organizations, she will cultivate partnerships that bring valuable resources directly to students and their families. This collaborative approach empowers student success as Johnson advocates for achievement, identifies and addresses barriers, and oversees initiatives that build a strong support system for every student to thrive. Her leadership extends to enriching student life by taking the lead on clubs, summer programs, and after-school activities. Ultimately, Johnson strives to build upon and continue to create a school environment where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Johnson stated, “I'm thrilled and extremely honored to be stepping into this role. As a proud product of Vienna schools and a lifelong resident of this community, I'm deeply invested in its success. I am eager to build upon our strengths and continue to foster a collaborative environment where students, families, and community partners work together. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to continue working alongside everyone at VHS!”
“Reagan is an inspirational figure for us here at Vienna High School. She is one of the first examples of the career pipelines established here. It is my privilege to be able to work alongside her in this meaningful work trying to reach every child here in Johnson County, regardless of background or status,” said Phillip Hosfeldt, Dean of System programs.
We are currently applying for the FY25 Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant through the Illinois State Board of Education. Anyone who is interested in becoming a community partner should email Phillip Hosfeldt at phillipmhosfeldt@viennahs.com.
